About Us
|
We are the Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) undergraduate chapter at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Our chapter was established more than 10 years ago to serve as a support group for students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). We proudly represent the National SACNAS Organization, which encourages Chicano, Hispanic, and Native American students, along with students of other ethnic backgrounds, to pursue higher education and assists them in obtaining the advanced degrees necessary for scientific research, industry, leadership, and teaching careers at all levels. For 40 years, SACNAS has provided strong national leadership towards improving and expanding opportunities for minorities in the scientific workforce, also mentoring college students in science, mathematics and engineering.

What we do |
Our chapter takes great pride in representing the National SACNAS Organization. They have recognized us as outstanding regional network role model chapter (2015), chapter role model for outstanding governance (2013), long-term sustainability (2012), being the most active chapter (2008) and exemplary effort to promote student success at UCSB (2006). For nearly a decade, UCSB SACNAS has provided many professional development and leadership opportunities for our members, specializing in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields.
